Canada Government announces details for reopening of 2020 Parents-and-Grandparents Program

The Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, on October 5, 2020 announced details for the opening of the 2020 Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Program, building further on the government’s commitment to reuniting families. This program will span through a 3-week period from 12 p.m. EDT on October 13, 2020, to 12 p.m. EST on November 3, 2020. Canadians and permanent residents who wish to sponsor their parents and grandparents to come to Canada will have an opportunity to submit an interest to sponsor form online.

Alberta makes changes to PNP application

Most Immigration programs can now be applied online by Alberta-bound immigrants. Although the province has introduced new fees. Application to the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) can be done online from October 1, unless they are for the Self-Employed Farmer Stream. Candidates in the Alberta Express Entry Stream must receive authorization from AINP to access the new portal.

Saskatchewan invites 535 in 81 Occupations in the Latest PNP Draw

In the latest round of draws, Saskatchewan immigration has invited 535 applicants across 81 target occupations. The latest round of draw in the Saskatchewan immigrant Nominee program draw featured invites through the Occupations In-Demand and Express Entry streams. Occupations In-Demand candidates received 257 invitations, while Express Entry candidates received 278. Both streams required a minimum score of 82 points.
